I’ve just had a quick flick through your other reviews for confirmation and yeah… You don’t know comedy. Which is amusingly exactly what you’re trying to level at Burr as a criticism, and yet, he has produced hours, days, weeks, months, years, probably, if you include all his off the cuff stuff, podcasts, old O&A materials, etc etc I mean, the list goes on – a LOT of brilliant material… and yet you have written 500 odd words that basically say nothing. It also kind of sounds like you wrote a review of Friends who Kill which got a decent response so you’ve tried to recreate your greatest hit in this review. It feels more like you’re a fan of your own opinions and are just trying to shoehorn them into the reviews. Based on this review, I don’t think you are a fan of stand up comedy. The way he uses different devices and methods to change the pace and the mood… It’s really quite brilliant. This man keeps you engaged and is vulnerable and angry and shows growth as a person and comedian. It’s one of the most enjoyable things I’ve watched in ages. Interesting review… ‘as a fan of stand up comedy’….

I hope we get a bounce back in the future. Yes, I love Bill Burr, but playing the same hits gets old, and I want some fresh material. Overall, Bill Burr: Live at Red Rocks is another lackluster stand-up special from one of my favorite comedians. It was a great bit and, for a moment, reminded me of what Burr is capable of doing. It transitioned into talking about his childhood and the difference between parents now and parents then. The special did have a high moment when Burr went into detail about the time he went on mushrooms. Some comedians came out of the pandemic hitting home runs, and others like Burr have struck out. Sure, people will probably eat this special up, but if you are a true fan of stand-up comedy, you would watch this and see a man that has lost a step in this space. Rinse, recycle, repeat, and it’s stale, redundant, and boring. He goes after COVID, “woke” people and cancel culture. Burr played the exact hits as he did in Bill Burr: Friends Who Kill but for an hour instead of ten minutes.
